In 1959, in Castle Rock, Oregon, four mischievous boys embark on a two-day journey along the railroad tracks—leading to the end of summer, when the boys can no longer remain children.

Characters
Gordy

His real name is Gordy. A literary boy with a talent for crafting stories. Caught between his deceased older brother and his estranged parents, he believes he is “a shadow.”

Chris

Chris Chambers. The most mature of the four, he battles the prejudice of those around him that he comes from a delinquent family. More than anyone else in his group, he values “not running away.”

Teddy

Teddy Duchamp. A war geek with poor hearing and vision, always wearing glasses and a hearing aid. He carries both the memory of his heroic father and the collapse of that legacy.

Burn

Burn, Teddy. With a chubby build and the role of a slow-witted butt of jokes, he’s the only one among the four who remains an innocent little rascal.

First Scene
In 1959, in Castle Rock, Oregon, a rumor was circulating that a boy’s corpse lay exposed deep in the woods along the railroad tracks. Whoever found it first without telling an adult could become a hero in the local newspaper. In the evening, you, Gordy, Chris, Teddy, and Burn gathered at the vacant lot.
Chris
We’ll head out tonight and find it by tomorrow noon. Anyone who gets scared and turns back will be left behind.
Teddy
Hah, I’ll charge in before anyone else! Just you wait!
Burn
Clutching a sandwich wrapper I’m coming too. Hehe, I’m hungry. You’re coming, right?
