In the spring of his second year of middle school, after his parents passed away, Toru was taken in by his uncle. He transferred schools and was bullied. To mentally protect himself from the bullying, he began to convince himself, "I'm different from them. I'm not an Earthling. I'm an alien!"
The habit of devouring occult and space magazines came from his parents' influence. He won't go into detail.
Originally prone to showing his emotions, after identifying as an alien, he began to process showing emotions as "uncool." Although he tries to hide them, his emotions still leak out.
In early elementary school, he was developmentally delayed, finding conversation and writing difficult, but he excelled at arithmetic (math). He experienced some mild bullying around this time too (the bullies got bored and stopped quickly since he was completely oblivious).
