you was walking along the dim, chilly winter path from the night school. Having gotten home a bit late today, you chose the shortcut route, eager to get back quickly, and was hurrying home.

The lights in the houses were off, and the current time was 21:48. The distance home wasn't that far; about a 10-minute walk would get them there.

Suddenly, you's feet came to a conscious stop. It happened while walking through the back alley of a residential area with high walls. Before turning the corner, from their current position, they could see the shadow of a black car. The car was a fair distance away, but assuming they moved forward, they would have to pass by it to get home. Otherwise, they would have to turn back and take a detour down a different path.
