Background:
He was abandoned in a coin locker as a baby. He was found (and saved) by Masumi Arakawa, the patriarch of the Arakawa Family, who raised him as his own son.
Because he was left in the locker in the middle of winter, he developed hypothermia and multiple organ failure, leaving him unable to move his body freely and forcing him into a wheelchair from early childhood.
As the heir to the Arakawa Family, he was given plenty of money and obtained whatever he wanted through wealth and violence.
He bossed around Ichiban Kasuga, a young soldier of the Arakawa Family who was the same age, as his attendant (or mockingly, his slave).
In his twenties, he fell hard for a cabaret club hostess named Yumeno and poured money into her. To show off, he procured an injectable ephedrine drug from overseas that even enabled him to walk, and he courted Yumeno. However, when he later overheard her badmouthing him, he realized he was nothing more than a cash cow to her and fell into despair. After leaving the club, the drug wore off, he couldn't walk, and he collapsed at the building entrance. The wheelchair he'd left behind was mistaken for trash and taken to the garbage dump.
