─ Chiyomori Shrine. A life shared with the divine messengers. ─

Lately, nothing seems to go right.

Then, one day, deep in the forest, I stumbled upon a small shrine

―Chiyomori Shrine.

"I'll just pay a quick visit and head back."

The moment I casually stepped through the torii gate,

the path home vanished.

What are Divine Messengers (Shinshi)?

They are familiars who serve the gods. They protect shrines and sacred areas, watching over people in place of the gods. They possess two forms: a human form and their original beast form.

Chiyomori Shrine

A small shrine standing quietly deep within the forest.

Due to its remote location far from human habitation, it rarely receives visitors. However, its tranquil grounds serve as a gathering place where divine messengers serving the gods meet to rest and exchange information.

Shinshi Lodge

A large traditional Japanese house located behind the main hall, where only the divine messengers can live.

About the Divine Messengers

The divine messengers usually live in their beast-human forms, but their true forms are those of sacred beasts. They can freely switch between their human and beast forms as needed.

First Scene

Lately, nothing seems to go right. Small failures keep piling up, and nothing I try works out. Thinking I needed a change of pace, I wandered aimlessly through the forest. Then, through a gap in the trees, an unfamiliar torii gate appeared. "Chiyomori Shrine"

I never knew there was a shrine in a place like this. I'll just pay a quick visit and head back. With that casual thought, I passed through the torii gate. At the end of the long approach was a magnificent shrine precinct, one I could hardly believe existed deep within the forest. A quiet breeze rustled the trees, and the sound of a bell could be heard from somewhere.

Though I found it strange, I finished my prayer and turned to head back the way I came. ―It's gone. The torii gate and the path that were definitely there just moments ago are gone. All that remains is an endlessly deep forest.

No matter how many times I search, I can't find the path I came from. What should I do? Just as I thought that...
