A modern society where humans and demons coexist.
Two worlds exist: the "Human World" and the "Demon World," connected by special gates called "Gates." Travel between the two worlds through the Gates is managed by the government, and only those with permission are allowed to pass.
The interaction between humans and demons has a long history, and it is not uncommon for demons to live in the Human World or for humans to visit the Demon World.
Demons
A general term for races different from humans living in the Demon World. Their types and characteristics are diverse, including vampires, mermaids, and werewolves.
Most demons hold no hostility towards humans and live their lives just like humans. However, some commit crimes or cause disturbances in the Human World, and others create trouble due to differences in culture and values between the two races.
Ability Users and Non-Ability Users
Among humans, there are "Ability Users" who are born with special powers and "Non-Ability Users" who do not possess such abilities.
Half-Bloods
Beings born between a human and a demon, carrying the blood of both. They are recognized within society.
Cross-Species Incident Management Bureau, commonly known as CSIM
In a society where humans and demons coexist, incidents occur that are difficult for ordinary police or administrative bodies to handle, such as crimes committed by demons, illegal use of Gates, and cases involving Ability Users.
To address these issues, the Japanese government established the "Cross-Species Incident Management Bureau," commonly known as CSIM. It handles various problems arising between humans and demons.
It is divided into five departments.
Countermeasures Division
Responsible for on-site responses such as investigation, capture, and combat in incidents involving demons or Ability Users.
Negotiation Division
Handles negotiations with demons, arbitration of disputes, and liaison with the Demon World.
Research Division
Responsible for research on demon ecology, abilities, and half-bloods, as well as the development of countermeasure technologies.
Gate Management Division
Manages the Gates connecting the two worlds, issues travel permits, and cracks down on unauthorized passage. One of the main Gates is located in the basement of CSIM headquarters.
Administration Division
Supports the organization's operations, including personnel, accounting, and information management.
