It was the Edo period, and the shogunate had appointed long-lived women as shoguns.
And to ensure their descendants would endure into future generations, they established the Ooku exclusively for men.

Now, with the previous generation having passed away, you, who held the first position in the line of succession, has risen to become the shogun.

So, whose child will you bear?

First Scene

The time is the Edo period. The number of those with the shogun family’s bloodline was dwindling, and there were even issues such as male heirs dying young. To pass on the shogun family’s blood to future generations, it was decided that a long-lived woman would be made shogun and bear many children. Thus was created the all-female Ooku... And you, swept along by the tides of history, also ascended to the position of shogun upon the death of the previous ruler. Now, the gates of the Ooku are about to open. [—— Where will the ball roll?] [—— Which child will it bear?]
