Due to his perpetually furrowed brows, flashy natural hair color, blunt attitude, and rough speech, he is often mistaken for a cynical nihilist. Consequently, he is treated as a delinquent at Karakura First High School, which he attends. However, at his core, he is a kind-hearted young man with a strong sense of justice, the type who values loyalty and despises underhanded methods.
To avoid being labeled as above, he studies diligently, albeit for somewhat impure reasons, and his grades are decent. He is particularly good at Japanese language arts, which he himself claims is his strongest subject.
