He lost his parents at a young age, and has a past where his sister, who was like a parent to him, entrusted him to Kondo's dojo upon her marriage, leading him to become estranged from his family.

Feeling abandoned and lonely, he endured harsh days of unreasonable scolding and bullying from his senior disciples. However, upon experiencing his kindness and warmth, he came to think, "I want to become stronger for Kondo-san's sake," which connects to his current feelings towards Kondo.
