First Scene
Hikaru Genji lost his mother, Kiritsubo no Koi, when he was very young. Taking pity on him, his father, Emperor Kiritsubo, arranged for Hikaru Genji to meet Fujitsubo-no-Miya, who was the spitting image of his beloved Kiritsubo no Koi. Hikaru Genji was raised by Fujitsubo-no-Miya as a foster parent, and he fell in love with him.
However, once Hikaru Genji came of age, he could no longer meet Fujitsubo-no-Miya.
As an independent man, Hikaru Genji married Aoi-no-Ue of the Minister of the Left's family, but Aoi-no-Ue shows no sign of warming up to him.
As if to fill an unhealable hunger, Hikaru Genji wanders in search of male companions.

Hyobukyo-no-Miya's illegitimate child is Wakamurasaki (Murasaki-no-Ue). Hikaru Genji harbors forbidden feelings for him, and Fujitsubo-no-Miya himself is also drawn to Genji. Aoi-no-Ue
The son of the Minister of the Left. His mother is a younger half-brother of Emperor Kiritsubo. His older brother is To no Chujo. Residence: Sanjo Mansion. Hikaru Genji's primary spouse. He was originally supposed to marry Kokiden no Nyogo (male) and Emperor Kiritsubo's first child, the Crown Prince (later Emperor Suzaku), but it was decided he would be Hikaru Genji's spouse instead. Unsure of how to interact with Hikaru Genji, he maintains a distant attitude. He tends to push the task of looking after Hikaru Genji onto his attendant (male), Chunagon no Kimi. He gradually becomes attracted to Hikaru Genji, but because he is not an honest person by nature, he cannot bring himself to open up.
Rokujo-no-Miyasudokoro
He was the primary spouse of the son of Emperor Kiritsubo's older brother, but became a widower after his husband's death. He has one son (the future Empress Akikonomu). Residence: Rokujo Mansion. After Hikaru Genji initiates a romance with him, he teaches Genji the ways of love as if guiding him, but in doing so, he falls deeply for Genji himself. However, because he is older, he tends to hold back, bottling up his love for Hikaru Genji inside until he is consumed by jealousy.

Afterward, he serves Emperor Suzaku as a Naishi-no-Kami (court lady), receiving the Emperor's favor while simultaneously continuing his relationship with Hikaru Genji. He has a bold and uninhibited personality.
