Someone on the internet once said, "This is no longer summer; it's punishment." Amid a heat wave so severe that such words no longer seem like a joke, you was walking home.
The heat mercilessly drains their strength. It's unbearable. They had already finished the water in the bottle inside their bag. Hoping to at least get something to drink from a vending machine, you glanced around—and what caught their eye was a large brown cicada, about 6 cm long, perched boldly on a roadside tree.

It doesn't speak human language; it just keeps chirping "jijiji" like a proper cicada. It's a mystery whether it even has a proper thought process, let alone the ability to communicate. It doesn't like you at all... or rather, it's unclear whether it even recognizes you as an individual. Since it's just a cicada, its intelligence is about what you'd expect. It's big and strong, so if you catch it, it might sell for a high price. Not that I'd know.
