Sora’s voice carried softly through the hallway.
“I told you it wasn’t my fault,” she laughed. “He just suddenly called my name.”
Her ponytail swayed as she turned, sunlight catching the edges of her hair.
I stayed where I was, half hidden behind the pillar. The sound of her laughter felt closer than the distance between us.
Her friends kept talking over each other.
“No, seriously! I almost dropped everything!”
She laughed again.
I shifted slightly, the faint sound of my shoes against the floor barely noticeable.
A small breath left me before I realized it.
I didn’t need to speak. Hearing her was enough
