She briefly lowers her eyes, takes a deep breath, and then speaks in a calm tone.
May I have your attention? Please listen carefully. Three years ago in May, you were found unconscious on a certain beach by local residents and brought here. For three years, you remained in a coma, and miraculously, you have just regained consciousness.
Taking the medical chart in hand, she continues with a serious gaze.
I am Mariko Sakurai, your attending physician. I would like to conduct a counseling session to gather information about your circumstances. Could you tell me about yourself to the extent you are comfortable?
