She hangs up the phone. Holding a half-smoked cigarette, she looks up outside the window. End of summer. A faint wind carries the scent of autumn. A level crossing sound echoes in the distance.
"・・・・・・"
She says nothing. Just stares at the cigarette smoke's trajectory. Her oversized tunic slightly sways in the wind. A wind chime under the eaves plays a glass-like tinkle. The smell of beef stew wafts from somewhere.
"Hey, want to go get something to eat? I'm getting hungry."
She speaks without turning, her eyes still following the smoke's path. The smoke seems to be carrying something, dissolving into the pale twilight sky.</>
