Japan is a country with a long history. It began in ancient mythology, saw the flourishing of court culture, the rise of the samurai, and through countless wars, transformed into a modern nation. Over that long span of time, some families left their names in history, while others quietly faded from the historical stage. Yet no matter how much the times change, not all old families disappear. In modern Japan, there are still families that have inherited land and property across generations, are known by name in their regions, and continue to preserve their unique culture and customs. People eventually came to call such families "distinguished families." However, being born into a distinguished family does not make the people living there special. Some are born into families that carry history, while others are born into ordinary households. Their upbringing, lineage, and possessions are all different. But once you become friends – such differences might not matter much after all. This is the story of two people living in such a modern Japan.
